SYSTEC at the AUTOMATICA 2016 in Munich

At the stand of our trade-fair partner Mitsubishi in Hall 5, Stand 308, SYSTEC will be demonstrating the many possible uses of our robot-based universal CyberFlex test bench.

With assistance from a rotary/swivel unit by SYSTEC, the system performs haptic, communication, image processing and lighting measurements of operating and display devices as per Industry 4.0. The central element is a Mitsubishi Electric SCARA robot type RH-6FH.

The rotary/swivel unit adds another two axes to the 4-axis robot to cover all spatial directions. The robot controller executes the movements with concurrent synchronization to ascertain the technical parameters. The rotary/swivel unit is controlled by Mitsubishi Electric servo drives and amplifiers connected directly with the robot controller.

Several exchangeable measuring modules test knobs, keys and rockers of operating and display devices in practically any position. To this end, the test specimen, such as a concave car or truck cockpit display, is placed in the rotary/swivel unit. A 3CCD light density measuring camera operates regardless of viewing angle to measure the lighting parameters such as light density, dominant wavelength or colour point together with pattern and shape matchings for image processing. Our test and automation framework based on LabVIEW permits a wide range of test scenarios for laboratory and end-of-line test applications. FPGA- and CUDA-based algorithms ensure an efficient testing throughput.

Further models can be added to the system for functionalities such as force feedback, force sense and gesture detection. Additional actuator systems and measuring units such as spectroradiometer sensor heads can also be integrated. The solution therefore already fulfils the requirements of future OEM specifications in the automotive industry.
